Walmart Expands Ad Tech Arsenal with Vibe.co
Walmart announced on Tuesday the successful completion of its acquisition of Vibe.co, a self-service streaming TV advertising platform. Initially revealed in June, this strategic move integrates Vibe.co directly into Walmart Connect, the retail giant’s dedicated connected TV advertising division.
A Multi-Billion Dollar Strategy
The Wall Street Journal previously reported that the retail titan invested $1.4 billion to secure the technology firm, marking one of its most significant recent investments in the advertising sector.
Democratizing Streaming TV Ads
Vibe.co specializes in enabling small- and medium-sized businesses to execute streaming TV campaigns across various publishers. By merging this technology with Walmart Connect, the retailer is aggressively expanding its footprint in connected TV advertising, creating sophisticated new channels to engage consumers.
Enhancing the Commerce Journey
“Vibe has built an exceptional platform that makes streaming TV advertising simple and accessible for businesses of all sizes,” stated Ryan Mayward, GM and senior vice president of Walmart Connect. “Together, we’ll build on that foundation to help advertisers connect with customers more seamlessly across streaming, shopping and the broader commerce journey while making advertising more measurable, effective and accessible.”
Building on a History of Tech Investments
This deal follows Walmart’s 2024 acquisition of television manufacturer Vizio for $2.3 billion. Both moves underscore the company’s long-term commitment to evolving its advertising business and leveraging high-tech tools to dominate the retail media landscape.
