As the popular TV and movie-tracking app TV Time prepares to shut down, triggering a petition signed by over 25,000 users, a familiar face is stepping in to save the community. Antonio Pinto, one of the original founders of TV Time, has announced the launch of Bingers, a new platform designed to fill the void and resolve long-standing technical grievances.
A Lifeline for the TV Time Community
Bingers aims to act as a direct successor for the millions of users facing the loss of their viewing history and social connections. While many tracking apps exist, few successfully foster the active discussion forums that defined the TV Time experience. According to data from Appfigures, TV Time has amassed over 26.4 million lifetime installs, providing a massive potential user base for the new platform.

From Founder to Successor
Pinto, based in Paris, originally sold the platform—then titled TVShow Time—to Whipclip (now Whip Media) in 2016. He expressed disappointment upon learning that the app was being discontinued as the parent company pivoted toward AI. “TV Time was part of my life for so many years. And sad because this community was like my other family,” Pinto wrote in a blog post. “I decided to build the new home where the TV Time community could go.”

Addressing Technical Sustainability
A primary focus for Bingers is solving the performance bottlenecks that plagued its predecessor. Pinto noted that TV Time’s high server costs—largely unmitigated by premium subscriptions, which covered only about 10% of expenses—contributed to the shutdown. Bingers has been architected for efficiency, ensuring lower overhead and faster response times when millions of users interact with the platform simultaneously.

Migration and Launch Details
Bingers is scheduled for release on the App Store and Google Play by the end of July 2026. Interested users can join the waitlist now to receive launch notifications. To ensure a seamless transition, Bingers supports data imports from TV Time archives. Users are encouraged to utilize the GDPR-compliant export tool before TV Time is removed from app stores on July 15. The import feature is already active on the Bingers website, allowing users to prepopulate their viewing history ahead of the official app launch.
