Streaming giant Deezer has revealed that artificial intelligence now accounts for more than 50% of daily music uploads on its platform. This milestone marks a staggering increase from previous years, highlighting the rapid proliferation of AI-generated content within the digital music ecosystem.
The Meteoric Rise of AI Music
The surge in AI-generated tracks has been consistent and aggressive. Deezer reported that these uploads reached a peak in June 2026, hitting a monthly average of 90,000 tracks per day. This trend forces the music industry to confront a lack of consensus regarding how platforms should handle synthetic audio.
While some services have taken hardline approaches—such as Bandcamp banning AI tracks or Tidal restricting monetization—others have opted for softer measures. Apple Music has implemented a voluntary AI-tagging system, and Spotify has developed its own internal policy regarding the degree of AI involvement in track production.
Deezer’s Strategy to Combat Fraud
In response to the shifting landscape, Deezer is implementing stricter oversight. The company will now remove AI-generated tracks that have not been streamed within the last six months, as well as those identified as part of fraudulent streaming schemes designed to artificially inflate revenue.
“Deezer has been at the frontline of fighting fraud and reducing payment dilution related to AI music for almost two years. Now that half of all daily uploads are AI-generated tracks, we are taking additional steps to safeguard the rights of artists and songwriters, while maintaining focus on music that fans actually love,” said Deezer CEO Alexis Lanternier.
A Timeline of Exponential Growth
The platform first began tracking these statistics in January 2025, when AI music represented just 10% of daily uploads, or 10,000 tracks. By April 2025, that figure rose to 18% (20,000 tracks). Growth continued throughout 2025, reaching 28% in September and 34% by November.
The upward trajectory persisted into 2026, hitting 39% of daily uploads in January and 44% by April, eventually crossing the 50% threshold.
Detection Technology and Industry Impact
Deezer began labeling AI music last year and has refined its detection technology to identify tracks generated by platforms like Suno and Udio—AI startups currently embroiled in high-profile copyright litigation. While Deezer made its detection tools available to other platforms earlier this year, it remains unclear if major competitors have adopted the technology. Additionally, the company recently launched a tool capable of auditing Apple Music and Spotify playlists to detect the presence of AI-generated content.
