Meta has officially entered the gaming space with the release of Pocket, a new application that allows users to generate interactive experiences and games through simple AI prompts. The software stems from Meta’s acquisition of the team behind the “vibe-coded” gaming platform Gizmo earlier this year. Pocket functions as a creative hub for building and sharing “gizmos”—the app’s term for its interactive content—while providing a scrollable discovery feed for users to engage with projects created by others.
Tracing the Origins of Pocket
Based on the app’s screenshots in Google Play, there are significant design and functional parallels to the original Gizmo platform, which is still listed. Like its predecessor, Pocket leverages text-based AI prompts to facilitate the construction of interactive experiences, maintaining the core discovery-feed architecture that defined the original app.
Discovery and Rollout
The app’s emergence was first brought to public attention by reverse engineer Alessandro Paluzzi, who shared a Play Store screenshot of the interface on X. Data provided by intelligence firm Appfigures reveals that Pocket was actually launched on June 29, 2026, across both the App Store and Google Play, though download metrics remain limited due to the app’s recent debut.

While outlets such as Business Insider and Investing.com have corroborated the discovery, Meta has not yet issued an official statement regarding the app.
Meta’s Broader AI Strategy
Pocket serves as the latest pillar in Meta’s strategy to integrate AI-driven creation tools into the mainstream consumer experience. This initiative follows the company’s previous efforts, including AI-generated imagery within the Meta AI app, the creation of AI videos via the “Vibes” app, and the integration of AI features across its social media platforms and the creative video-editing tool, Edits.

Market Availability and Performance
Given the lack of an official announcement, industry observers believe Pocket is currently in an experimental phase. According to Appfigures, the application is presently available exclusively in Brazil. By comparison, the original Gizmo platform achieved 635,000 lifetime installs across iOS and Google Play, boasting a 98% positive sentiment rating among its user base.
