Meta officially debuted a new line of proprietary smart glasses on Tuesday, entering the wearable market with a starting price of $299. Developed in collaboration with EssilorLuxottica, the new Meta Glasses distinguish themselves from previous iterations by omitting the Ray-Ban or Oakley branding, positioning the tech giant as a standalone fashion and hardware brand.
The product line is available starting today across several countries, offering a wide array of lens and color combinations to suit diverse consumer preferences.
Strengthening Market Dominance
This launch marks a significant escalation in Meta’s wearable strategy as industry competition intensifies. Meta and its partner EssilorLuxottica currently command the market, holding an estimated share of over 80%, according to recent data from Counterpoint Research.

Hardware and AI Capabilities
While the devices lack a built-in display, they are equipped with a high-quality camera and integrated personal speakers. Users can utilize a dedicated button to trigger the Meta AI assistant by default, or remap it to launch specific custom features.
Meta reports over eight hours of battery life per charge, with the included carrying case providing an additional 40 hours of usage capacity.
Design Variety and Collaborations
The collection launches with three distinct styles:
- Meta Adventurer: A rectangular frame available in standard and large sizes.
- Meta Fury: A boxier, masculine aesthetic.
- Meta Glasses by Kylie: A slim oval frame designed in partnership with model Kylie Jenner.

New Software Updates and Navigation
Meta AI on the glasses functions as a comprehensive assistant, capable of processing visual input, providing information on local dining, checking sports scores, and assisting with daily tasks.
Additionally, the company announced that the glasses will soon receive a “Pedestrian navigation” feature for turn-by-turn walking directions. Live translation capabilities are also expanding to support 14 new languages, including Hindi, Japanese, Korean, and Mandarin.
This release follows by just one week the unveiling of Snap’s latest Specs, which target a significantly higher price point of $2,195.
