Lovable, the AI-driven platform for application development, has announced its investment in Atech, a Danish hardware startup aiming to revolutionize product creation through “vibe coding.” This move comes as part of an $800,000 pre-seed funding round, which also saw participation from the a16z Scout Fund, Sequoia Scout Fund, and Nordic Makers.
Simplifying the Hardware Workflow
In an interview with TechCrunch, Gustav Hugod, head of customer experience at Atech, explained that the platform’s core operation is designed for maximum efficiency. Users begin by purchasing a starter hardware kit from the Atech website tailored to their specific project goals. Once the hardware arrives, they simply open a browser tab, interact with an AI chatbot, and describe their hardware concept. The integrated AI tool then generates the necessary code to facilitate the development of a functional prototype.
Broadening the Horizon for Innovation
The versatility of the platform is already evident across its user base, which ranges from children as young as four building toy cars to industrial applications requiring complex voltage sensing for hydrogen synthesis plants, according to Hugod. Atech aims to bridge the gap between complex engineering and accessibility.
Democratizing Hardware Development
Traditionally, developing a hardware prototype has been a barrier-heavy process, often demanding decades of specialized expertise or the hiring of expensive engineering talent. Hugod emphasizes that just as the barriers to entry for software development have eroded, the hardware sector is poised for a similar transformation. “Hardware, in a democratized world, has to be available to everyone,” he noted. The startup plans to allocate the newly secured capital toward research and development, marketing initiatives, and expanding its team.
