Short-form video clips from podcasts, music, and films have become inescapable on social media, driven by a strategic shift as brands prioritize the format for its high-impact, cost-effective marketing potential.
Solving the Clipping Logistics Challenge
Marketing agencies frequently outsource the task of identifying and editing the most engaging 30 to 90 seconds of footage—a process known as “clipping”—to independent gig creators. However, coordinating these creators and navigating the complexities of multi-platform distribution remains a significant operational bottleneck.
Clouted, a graduate of the 2024 a16z Speedrun accelerator, is automating this workflow. The platform leverages a network of over 100,000 creators to handle editing, while utilizing AI to pinpoint the optimal social media platforms and target audiences for each piece of content.
From Festival Roots to $7 Million Seed Round
Co-founder and CEO Justin Banusing initially developed the technology to support his own projects within the electronic music and festival industry. As a DJ, he successfully deployed Clouted to scale &Friends, a Manila-based festival that now attracts crowds exceeding 20,000 attendees.
This proven track record has attracted significant capital. The startup recently secured a $7 million seed round led by Slow Ventures, with additional backing from Gold House Ventures, Weekend Fund, Peak XV’s Surge, and other prominent investors.
AI-Driven Algorithmic Testing
Unlike standard marketing tools that focus solely on volume, Clouted employs a continuous testing loop. By experimenting with diverse formats and channel strategies, the AI builds a data-rich feedback loop, ensuring that every subsequent campaign is more precise and efficient than the last.
The company views its methodology as a form of “penetration testing” for social media algorithms. Borrowing from cybersecurity, where researchers probe systems to find vulnerabilities, Clouted’s AI and creator network systematically test thousands of variations to uncover exactly what triggers viral performance.

});
“The result is that every campaign Clouted runs makes the next one faster, smarter, and more effective,” Banusing told TechCrunch. “The platform learns which formats win, which audiences convert, and which distribution channels compound over time.”
Aiming for Enterprise Infrastructure
While Clouted faces direct competition from automated clipping startups like Overlap AI, Banusing is positioning the company to challenge established marketing infrastructure giants. By targeting the space occupied by firms like CreatorIQ and Hightouch—the latter of which recently surpassed $100 million in ARR—Clouted is aiming to scale into a core piece of enterprise marketing technology.
