Apple is gearing up for a major hardware refresh in the first half of next year, with plans to launch multiple new iPad Pro models alongside a redesigned entry-level MacBook Pro.
Expanding the Pro Lineup
The tech giant is currently developing four distinct versions of its flagship tablet, all featuring upgraded, high-performance silicon, according to a report by Bloomberg. You can read the full details here. Beyond the tablets, internal development is underway for a new “entry-level” MacBook Pro, codenamed K104. This period is also expected to mark the debut of Apple’s next-generation M7 processor.
Recent Product History
Apple’s tablet strategy continues to evolve following the release of the previous iPad Pro in October of last year. In March, the company released a high-end MacBook Pro refresh and introduced the budget-focused MacBook Neo. Unlike the upcoming K104, the Neo utilizes the A18 chip originally engineered for the iPhone; the new device is expected to offer the full power associated with the Pro branding.
Market Strategy Amid Price Hikes
These upcoming releases surface as Apple navigates a transitional period, preparing for life after Tim Cook while addressing persistent supply chain constraints. Cook has previously noted that these logistical hurdles have necessitated significant price adjustments. For example, the MacBook Pro with 1TB of storage recently jumped from $1,699 to $1,999. Consequently, the introduction of more accessible laptops and tablets could serve as a strategic move to regain market momentum.
