Meta is officially expanding its subscription strategy. On Wednesday, the social media giant announced a global rollout of consumer-facing subscription plans for its core platforms—Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp—while simultaneously launching tests for new professional, creator-focused, and AI-driven tiers.
For a monthly fee, users can now subscribe to Instagram Plus ($3.99/mo), Facebook Plus ($3.99/mo), or WhatsApp Plus ($2.99/mo). These tiers unlock exclusive features such as profile customization, enhanced “super reactions,” and granular story insights. According to an announcement from Meta’s head of product, Naomi Gleit, these offerings are just the beginning, with plans to introduce additional “fun features” in the near future.
Plus plans don’t replace Meta Verified

These initiatives, grouped under the new “Meta One” umbrella, signal a strategic push to diversify revenue beyond advertising as the company reaches global user saturation. By extracting more value from its massive user base, Meta aims to cater to “power users” who demand more from their social experience.
Crucially, these “Plus” tiers do not replace Meta Verified. While the latter remains focused on security, identity verification, and support, the new plans are tailored to specific app behaviors: social expression for Facebook and Instagram, and personalization for WhatsApp.
Instagram Plus subscribers gain access to advanced tools, including the ability to track aggregate story rewatches, create unlimited audience lists, extend stories beyond the 24-hour window, and preview content without appearing on viewer lists. Additionally, users can post stories directly to their profile without cluttering followers’ feeds, alongside custom icons and profile fonts.
Facebook Plus offers a similar feature set, while WhatsApp Plus introduces themes, custom ringtones, increased pinned chats, and premium stickers.

AI plans and more, including those for creators and businesses
Meta is also introducing complex subscription tiers for power users and AI enthusiasts. For Meta AI, the company is testing “Meta One Plus” ($7.99/mo) and “Meta One Premium” ($19.99/mo). The Premium tier offers increased compute capacity, enabling deeper reasoning for complex tasks and enhanced image and video generation. While Meta AI remains free for general use, these tiers mirror industry trends of charging for high-intensity model usage. Future updates will incorporate benefits for Meta’s AI glasses.
Professional tiers are also in the pipeline. The “Meta One Essential” ($14.99/mo) includes verification, impersonation protection, and an enhanced “linksheet” for social cross-promotion. The “Meta One Advanced” ($49.99/mo) builds on this with prioritized feed placement, increased visibility in search results, “Follow” buttons on Reels, and automated engagement invitations.
Advanced subscribers will also gain access to deeper analytics—including competitive insights and custom audience data—as well as optimized scheduling tools and moderator access sharing, without the need to share passwords. Additionally, the plan includes content reuse notifications, allowing creators to formally request credit for their original Reels.
Meta is currently testing these professional and AI-centric plans in select regions, including Singapore, Saudi Arabia, Morocco, Thailand, and Bangladesh, with the goal of refining the “Meta One” ecosystem as it scales.
